Summer festival/open day at the East Asia Institute

The Summer Festival at the East Asia Institute will take place on July 6, 2019, starting at 12 pm. Like last year, there will be a varied festival program and musical performances on the parking deck of the East Asia Institute. In the classrooms, there will be interesting workshops such as a Japanese calligraphy course, a Korean tea ceremony, the board games Shogi and Go, and a raffle. Indoor activities

At the "Calligraphy" workshop, Dr. Adachi- Bähr will explain the basics of calligraphy and show the different basic strokes. Korean tea ceremony will be performed by Ms. Jo at the museum. Prof. Dr. Rövekamp will hold the workshop "Shogi & Go" in Tokyo. Shogi is a kind of Japanese chess and Mr. Rövekamp will explain the basics for it, as well as for the game Go.

Outdoor activities

Starting at 3 p.m., a Kpop dance performance and a singing performance are planned on the parking deck. The buffet will be colorful. There are some Asian items such as kimbab, pa jeon and oi kimchi. Salads combined with barbecue will also be offered. Also, sweets such as muffins, dry cake, etc.

Note for motorists

Due to construction in front of the East Asia Institute, there is no parking available at the front door. There is a paid parking garage nearby. Please follow the signs "Walzmühle". Note for pedestrians

Due to the construction site, the direct footpath to the Ostasieninstitut has been signposted with a prohibition for pedestrians. You can reach us with a detour via August-Macke-Straße around the construction site. Navigation via Google Maps or via Openstreetmap.
