In the festive setting of the Ludwigshafen Pfalzbau and with around 800 guests, the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society celebrated its graduates on Friday, July 12, 2019. The event was opened by University President Professor Dr. Peter Mudra; followed by the student speech by Maximilian Schröder, graduate in the Master's program in Business Information Systems with a focus on Management & Consulting. Afterwards, comedian Dr. Christian CHAKO Habekost presented excerpts from his current program before the award winners were presented with their prizes. The Degree of the official program formed then starting from 19.00 o'clock the ceremonious distribution of the graduation certificates. Stefanie Zuehlsdorff-Hottel from the university-affiliated Weincampus Neustadt led through the official part of the evening. The band 'The Necronautics' provided the right momentum during the ceremony, as well as DJ Lucas Summer at the party starting at 10:00 pm.

The honoring of outstanding academic achievements also had its traditional place at the graduation ceremony: The Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Ludwighafen University of Applied Sciences awarded 500 euros each to Lorena Düner, Business Administration Taxation and Auditing, as the best Bachelor's graduate and Katja Reincke from the Master's program in Social Work as the best Master's graduate. The prize for the best Bachelor's thesis, also endowed with 500 euros, was awarded to Anna-Lena Gerdon, a graduate of the Bachelor's program in Social Work, for her thesis on "Dementia villages - on the pros and cons of freedom in enclosure. Current considerations for social work with the elderly". Carsten Hämmerle, a graduate of the International Management Eastern Europe bachelor's degree program, also received an award for his outstanding bachelor's thesis entitled "Competitive analysis and evaluation for deriving strategic recommendations for action in the field of commercial vehicle platooning, illustrated using the example of MAN Truck & Bus AG ". The prizes were presented by Ahu Gel, member of the board of the Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule Ludwigshafen e.V. (Association of Friends and Sponsors of Ludwigshafen University).
The Family Award, which is endowed with 300 euros and honors students with multiple family responsibilities, went to Iris Sebastian from the dual bachelor's degree program in nursing. The Family Award was presented by Prof. Dr. Elke Raum, the university's Equal Opportunity Officer, to the working mother of three.
Julia Baier of the Förderverein Gesundheitsökonomie an der Hochschule Ludwigshafen e.V. awarded Julia Kaliba the Health Economics Prize, endowed with 800 euros, in the category "First-placed Master's thesis" for her work on "Direct access to physiotherapy in Germany - status quo and necessary conditions and changes". In the category 'second-placed master's thesis', Christina Cyppel was awarded prize money of 700 euros for her work on "Digitalization in psychotherapy using the example of Baden-Württemberg - potential and risks".

Background:
In the past academic year, winter semester 2018/2019 and summer semester 2019, a total of just over 600 graduates successfully completed their studies at the university in Ludwigshafen. There are currently around 4,500 students studying at the university.
