Since 2018, students on the Master's degree course in International Marketing Management have had the opportunity to participate in the double degree program with the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Queensland, Australia. So far, the option of a double degree has met with a consistently positive response from our students and is reflected in reports of their experiences that trigger wanderlust.
Due to the lively demand for a double degree at USC from other degree programs at our university, the International Affairs department has taken advantage of the "Corona semester" and expanded this cooperation to include two more degree programs in cooperation with the Human Resources degree programs. Students on the degree programs "International Personnel Management and Organization" (IPO) headed by Prof. Dr. Stephan Weinert and "International Human Resources Management" (IHRM) headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Martin have the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Business or Master of Management at USC. This makes the IPO degree program the first Bachelor's degree program at HWG LU to offer the opportunity to obtain a double degree. The stays abroad at USC can be smoothly integrated into the respective curricula and semesters abroad for both degree programs. Degrees from the Australian university are then additionally awarded by USC after successful completion of studies at HWG LU.
Cooperation with the International College of Management (ICMS) in Sidney
In addition, a cooperation agreement was concluded with the International College of Management (ICMS) in Sidney in the summer semester of 2020 and a double degree program with the Master's in International Marketing was agreed. A further double degree program for the Master's degree course "Finance & Accounting" with course director Prof. Dr. Gösta Jamin is currently being negotiated and is expected shortly. The International Affairs department is thus responding to students' requests for a higher number of English-language collaborations in sought-after metropolitan areas.
Application possible from summer semester 2021
Due to the restrictive entry regulations to Australia during the corona pandemic, it will only be possible to apply for the new programs from the summer semester 2021. Fortunately, reduced tuition fees have been agreed with the international partners for all double degree programs. At USC, a reduction in visa costs is also included in the program. Students can also apply for further financial support via the DAAD PROMOS or HAW link programs. It is also possible to work during your stays abroad. Information events on the double degree programs are planned with the Australian universities in the middle of the winter semester. Of course, the International Office will be happy to assist you.
