On March 27, 2019, 28 kids attended the first Children's University lectures of the summer semester 2019 on the topic "Caretaker was once - Facility Management is today. Who does what, why and why?" with our colleague Herbert Stork.
Not only in your school are there hardworking helpers who clean up, repair and are simply always there where help is needed.
At the university, too, there are such hardworking colleagues who help to make sure everything runs smoothly.
At the beginning of the lectures, there was some information about what the colleagues from Facility Management do and what they are responsible for.
Then we went on a tour of two buildings:
In the A-building, a defective beamer was shown in a Facility Management office - prepared by Herbert Stork. It was unscrewed and disassembled into its individual parts. While explaining how such a beamer works and which part is for which function, there were quite a few questions that had to be answered.
Then it was off to the basement - and straight to the workshop. Here, everything that is defective is repaired - as far as possible. And a lot is possible, since our colleagues are very skilled craftsmen.
In the second cellar room, it was very warm and the smell was a bit peculiar: we were in the boiler room. After the information Herbert Stork gave, we quickly ran back into the stairwell and into the open air - to "fill up" on fresh air.
Also in the B-building of the university we were in a so-called boiler room, which, however, still has the function of fresh air supply and the drain for the stale air of the refectory - directly above.
After these dark rooms, the kids then visited the auditorium - the switching station on the tribune and - this could not be missed: the use of the microphone on the stage. And you could tell that no one was tired and everyone was still in good voice.
Satisfied and packed with their Kinderuni ID card, something to drink and a little surprise, they then went home again - after 90 minutes.
