"Corona in Germany - from a helicopter perspective"

As part of the Brennpunkt lecture series at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, editor and co-author Prof. Dr. Stefan Iskan and his renowned team of authors presented the central theses of their recently published book "Corona in Germany": In two online lectures on October 22 and 29, 2020, they examined the pandemic and its consequences for Germany from the perspective of various disciplines and engaged in a discussion with the audience.

Part 1 of the online lecture "Corona in Germany" on Thursday, 22 October 2020, from 5.00 to 6.30 pm was dedicated to the medical perspective of the pandemic, its historical classification and the economic consequences of the lockdown: Dr. Timo Ulrichs, Professor of Global Health and Development Cooperation at Akkon University, Berlin, and expert on infection and immunobiological issues and epidemic protection, explained the medical, epidemiological and public health aspects of the corona crisis. The historian and European expert David Engels, Professor of Roman History at the Free University of Brussels and currently a research professor at the Instytut Zachodni in Poznan, then placed the pandemic in its historical dimension. Dr Stefan Iskan, Professor of Logistics and Business Informatics, in particular Automotive SCM and Digitalization, at the HWG LU then shed light on "The Great Lockdown" and its consequences from an economic perspective.

Part 2 of the event took a look at the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, October 29, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. from the perspective of politics, the media and geo-strategic considerations: Karl-Rudolf Korte, Professor of Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the "Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany and Modern Governance Theories" department and Director of the NR School of Governance, analyzed the connections between "crisis management, anger movements and the super election year 2021". Media expert and journalist Tanjev Schultz, Professor at the Journalism Seminar and the Institute for Journalism Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, then shed light on the coronavirus crisis as a media event. Editor and co-author Iskan brought together the various perspectives from the "helicopter perspective" to
Degree and related them to the major geo-strategic issues of the present and future.

The online-supported video conferencing tool ZOOM was used to implement the online event "Corona in Germany". After registering by email, participants received a registration confirmation with the registration link and event password.
